Need Ideas for Your Keyword Research Methodology?

This data comes from Google Analytics, and is pulled through API into Bizwatch.  It's included in our Google Adwords & Analytics keyword analysis service.  See Google Checkout below.

What are your top converting keyword phrases?

1) For companies already engaging in PPC, SEO & Website Traffic - we recommend you mine your own data.  The problem with Google Adwords, Analytics, Yahoo, Bing - is that it presents so much data at your fingertips, that you don't know what to do with all the information, or where to start, or you miss really important information that tends to fly under the radar based on the way the information is presented.

  • We'll share the methodology or you can order a Bizwatch data pull (takes one business day) and you can do the analysis yourself, or again, we can do it for you.

  • PPC Keyword Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Audit (all data pulls into Bizwatch in just three hours!)
  • Pull keyword data by campaign, ad group and keyword level
  • All KPIs will be pulled into Bizwatch as it relates to clicks, impressions, click-thru rate (CTR), conversions, cost per conversion, total cost, Q score
  • All KPIs will be sorted by month, and trended into graphs, and table view
  • Top performing keywords by proprietary metrics will be sorted
  • Non-performing keywords by proprietary metrics will be sorted

2) Pull Bizwatch Traffic Data to Perform a Traffic Keyword Conversion KPI Audit

  • Pull overall traffic metrics into Bizwatch (visits, uniques, bounce rate, conversions (goals 1-4), time spent on site, trended over time, YOY
  • Pull keyword conversion data, and associated KPIs
  • Trended over time, YOY, graphs and table view

3) Keyword Research Tools to Show Traffic Potential

  • We have used industry standard keyword traffic potential search data for several years
  • It is useful to pull this data into Bizwatch, where you can see the following:
    • Actual traffic received
    • Search volume (per industry projections)
    • % of actual traffic received to search volume
    • # of online orders by keyword, or leads by keyword
    • Conversion rate by keyword
    • Ranking

4) Client input - not all client keywords will send the most qualified keyword traffic to conversions at an acceptable cost of conversion but you must have two or more in depth conversations from all marketing management and team members

5) Competitor inputs - what does their competitor list look like in organic (SEO) as well as in paid search?  What do the top five rankings look like?  Who has the most top five ranking marketshare?  What are their ads saying? Landing pages? Do they offer free shipping, pricing, same product inventory/selection (ecommerce sites).  These are just some of the things we look at when doing keyword research.  Competitive analysis is crucial and it takes time to do this right.

6) Proprietary discovery process - we aren't going to document everything we do here, but you get an idea of the process we've listed.

7) Revisions are customary - not uncommon to have three to four meetings while using Bizwatch Search Analytics keyword research methodology, to determine & fine-tune keyword strategy

8) Lastly, ongoing keyword research is crucial.  Through Broad Match (Google Adwords), using a handy new tool embedded in Google itself - is a search query report that is available through the client's console.  It helps to reveal the actual search queries that get clicks, but may not show up easily in Google Analytics or other traffic monitoring consoles.
